DESIGNER RADIATOR

Bathroom radiators

Bathroom radiators were the first really stylish designer radiators to emerge into public awareness and today most people have some kind of designer radiator in their bathroom.

Where did the style come from

In reality these bathroom radiator's good looks are down to multi functionality and the dictates of space rather than carefully considered aesthetics and style.

This is because bathrooms tend to be small rooms with limited wall space and this often necessitates tall but narrow radiators, i.e. the tower or column radiator. This style of radiator will fit into small vertical spaces, but still offers the equivalent surface area of a lower but wider radiator found in other rooms of the home.

Add to this the fact that many people place a damp towel on a radiator to dry off and you then look at the possibility of creating a rail in the radiator design to accomplish this additional need.

Ultimately the bathroom radiator is the perfect combination of function and style.

Towel radiator options

Towel rail radiators can have projecting rails added to the design, or they can use a tubular construction that automatically results in rail like horizontal pipes on which towels or other garment can be hung.

Either way you get an interesting and different radiator look that is tall and slim whilst saving space and acting as a drying hanger.

Both options allow the centrally heated water to pass through the horizontal rail sections and this makes them ideal for the fast drying of towels or other fabric garments.

Many bathroom radiators have their appearance further enhanced by the application of a shinny chrome or stainless steel finish. However, this finish has as much to do with ease of cleaning and low maintenance as it does with genuine designer styling.

Most bathroom towel rail radiators are sleek and modern in appearance, however there are many period style towel radiator designs that are equally as attractive. This style of radiator can give a distinctive Victorian feel to a bathroom.

For those wanting something a little bit different, other alternatives include a variation on the tower design called a wave. On a wave radiator the vertical sides of the radiator are "S" shaped giving it a distinctive and curvaceous look.

Another option is to choose a minimalist or industrial looking radiator which could have strong vertical or horizontal lines, or a completely flat and featureless surface.

The other popular option is to select a mirror radiator. This is a radiator that includes a mirror either centrally or to one side of the radiators functional construction. There is also a separate kind of mirror radiator uses the actual mirror to radiate heat throughout the room.

Bathroom radiators vary dramatically in price. Budget versions, like those found on the internet, can be very cheap and very stylish and they offer excellent value. However, if you want something different there are plenty of alternatives, but you will have to pay for the privilege of exclusivity.
