DESIGNER RADIATOR

Radiators for the hall

Halls, hallways and building entrances invariably have radiators. These rooms act as portals to the rest of a home or property and they normally have a doorway out of the building. The result is that they can get cold drafts of air from outside and this means that keeping a stable temperature in them is important. They will nearly always have a radiator.

Given the fact that an entrance hall is the first part of any home that the owner or any visitors will see, it is a room that makes a definate impression, even if it is only small in size. This means that an ugly radiator will create a poor impression whilst a more attractive or designer radiator will have the opposite effect. It will also help to set the tone for the rest of the house.

Choosing a designer radiator

The way to select a hallway radiator is similar to that of choosing a radiator for a reception room. Look for a design, and even a colour, that matches the decor of the room and decide if you want the radiator to be a feature, or simply to blend into the background. It is a good idea to look at the position and prominence of the radiator in the room as this will give you an idea of the impact that any statement style radiator will have.

Having a very impressive designer radiator in an entrance hall will certainly make an impression and indeed it could easily be the main feature of the passageway. However it is important to make sure that what follows does not become a disappointment. In other words, if your budget is limited, do not have an expensive and impressive looking radiator in a hall with bland or ugly radiators in the reception rooms that follow.

What is available

With the vast array of designer radiator styles around today no one looking at remodelling their home will be limited in terms of choice.

There are radiators that mimic classic Victorian and Georgian styles (many of which are currently in fashion), and then there are the modern and ultra modern designs. All have a place depending upon the décor of the room in question and the theme or impression that the owner wants to create.

Wave and flat panel radiators offer a clean and stylish look in halls, and because they are available in narrow dimensions and have a minimal depth, they will take up little in the way of room and wall space.

More outlandish designs that have a three dimensional quality, or that stand out from a wall, take up more room and are perhaps better suited to the larger entrance halls.

Colour is also important. Contrasting colours will stand out to create a feature and finishes that duplicate a texture, like brushed metal, can also give a radiator an almost tactile feel.
